CO2 Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing
improved Skin; Texture, Tone, and Tightening in a Single Treatment
Fractional laser facial skin resurfacing replaces damaged skin with fresh new skin. The techniques for fractional laser facial skin resurfacing allow everyone to achieve close to flawless complexions.
It primarily targets:
- fine lines and wrinkles of the face
- sun damage
- brown spots and uneven skin tone
- scars and acne scars
Why CO2 “fractional” laser resurfacing?
This is the gold standard of laser skin rejuvenation; the CO2 laser delivers thousands of tiny laser pulses in a pattern over the skin. Each pulse heats a column of tissue creating a zone of heating deep in the tissue. These zones of heating shrink collagen and tighten the skin immediately. The CO2 laser also offers the benefits of heating deeper layers of skin tissue, thereby stimulating collagen remodeling, tightening the skin further.
Will I see results in one session?
Yes, you will see results in just one session. If you have very deep wrinkles or scars, you will benefit from additional treatment sessions.
Will I have any pain?
We use topical numbing medication; you may feel a deep warmth. Most likely, a very mild discomfort
I have brown spots on my face from sun damage. How many treatments will be enough to get rid of them?
One treatment will definitely improve and help with removing sun damage. Your success will also depend on your sunscreen wear post-treatment.
Will I have a lot of redness, peeling during the recovery period?
On the first day, you may have some swelling. You may have redness on day 1 or 2, and peeling usually starts on the second or third day of treatment. After the fifth day, you may use makeup to camouflage.
How many days of downtime following the treatment? Will it be obvious to others, or can I go on with my regular business following the treatment?
During treatment, you will feel like an intense sunburn, but no pain.
- The first day – downtime, the treated area will look like a bad sunburn, and you may have some slight swelling.
- On the second day – skin will be getting ready to peel. Skin weeping may still be present.
- The third day – you will be peeling, and fresh pink skin will start showing through.
- The fourth day – still peeling.
- Day 5 – getting back to normal – wear your sunscreen! Underlying redness may still be present, can wear makeup.
Typically how long will this treatment last?
The treatment itself is about 30 minutes. But topical anesthesia is applied 45 minutes before the procedure. While the treatment does not stop the aging process, it may turn back the hands of time for about ten years. That 10-year difference can be kept for a lifetime, with proper care and maintenance.
Can other areas other than the face be treated?
Examples of other areas that can be treated are the hands, neck, and décolletage.
Is this procedure suitable for dark skin?
There are 6 Fitzpatrick skin types. Type 6, African American, is the only skin type that cannot be treated with the laser. Type 4- Mediterranean and Asian – and Type 5 – South Americans and Indians have to take certain precautions before and after the laser treatment that will help decrease the risk of hyperpigmentation (skin darkening).
